I know at least three of you are fans of Indiana Jones. I don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate Spielberg and Lucas. I think they are great directors and Indiana Jones is a great concept.. Here is a chance for you to enjoy Indiana Jones come alive- not the shooting part or the scripting part, but a discussion between Spielberg and Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan about what kind of a film they wanted to make, and the film turned out to be, "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
The transcript of the discussion between the three is available on line as a pdf document of 125 pages. Again many of you keep lots and lots of ebooks and movies in your PC., and this will be a welcome addition. The pdf is available here at sendspace
I knew about it from a blog, Mystery Man on Film. Mystery Man discusses this transcript in great detail, he is obviously more knowledgeable than me, so you should go there to know more.
And if you are interested in films and scripts, this is a more convincing reason for you to read the post by Mystery Man: he has abstracted ten Screenwriting lessons through reading the transcript of the discussion between Spielberg, Lucas and Kasdan.
Another reason for you go to that blog is that it has some excellent links to writing resources- links to Scriptwriting Glossary, Film studies, 15000 useful phrases, Nonverbal Gestures... I am naming just a few.
And then he has a long list of blogs on screenwriting. He is well organised. If I ever wanted to keep a tidy blog, it will aspire to be like Mystery Man's.
I am a huge fan of the Indiana series and am looking forward to at least skim over the document. I think that anyone who would give these movies a bad review should read the transcript to see what genius was involved.
