Guantanamo is Great!

I thought I would have "n random things about x" as the theme of this month, but the world is so random, one cannot even keep to the resolve of being random. This news was so delicious, I have to share it with you.

Venezuelan beauty queen Dayana Mendoza visited Guantanamo Bay on March 27 and blogged her impressions at Miss Universe Blog. (Google Cache).

She is fairly effusive about it all, starting, "This week, Guantanamo!!! It was an incredible experience."

She had a great time there, talking about what it means to live there and things like that, she says, "it was truly a memorable trip."

She writes, "We also met the Military dogs, and they did a very nice demonstration of their skills. All the guys from the Army were amazing with us. We visited the Detainees camps and we saw the jails, where they shower, how the recreate themselves with movies, classes of art, books. It was very interesting." And why should it not be?

She was impressed with the water,  "The water in Guantanamo Bay is soooo beautiful! It was unbelievable, we were able to enjoy it for at least an hour.", so much so that she, "... didn't want to leave, it was such a relaxing place, so calm and beautiful."

Too bad that Gitmo is to be closed, maybe by some special Presidential dispensation, Mendoza might be allowed to stay there for ever and ever, to relax with the water and the military dogs and all?

But unfortunately, people are not so good, it looks like she got criticised so badly, the entry has been removed from the blog- The New York Times

  1. Is superficiality an act, fact, or just our interpretation?

  2. I think it is just our bias- may be she really felt that way. I don't think we can criticise people for what they don't know and are not aware of.
