The Indian Express carries a report from Reuters, which says that women in Afghanistan should not buy cucumbers, because they are suggestive of the male member ;-).
Honestly!
It quotes Sheikh Hameed al-Hayyes, a Sunni tribal leader in the province of Anbar: "The Talibans even killed female goats because their private parts were not covered and their tails were pointed upward, which they said was haram... They regarded the cucumber as male and tomato as female. Women were not allowed to buy cucumbers, only men."
Of course, I don't believe any of this.
Some kind of conspiracy, I am sure.
