It is very sad to see the importance the american hurricane and floods get in indian media when compared to their counterpart in Bihar.
The response was more when during bhuj trajedy and during tsunami.
The possible cause for such an isolation may be because of the criminal tag Bihar gained.
all pray for them.
I agree. Even Gustav gets better coverage.
ReplyDeleteBiharis always receive bad press. Also, the fact that the disaster has hit a very backward area hasn't helped.
If Mumbai or Chennai had been flooded with 2 inches of water, all the news channels will be screaming the end of the world.
It is a shame on our media.
Our media just like any other business house wants money. They know What people want to watch. Not many really track Bihar floods but they do track Gustav for two reasons. One, there are people want to know how their business/life/relatives are affected and this section does play a role in kind of ads that media run on. Second, the group that wants to know the damage that Gustav leaves on US. There is another reason why Gustav is tracked and that too know what effect it will have on the crude. Does anything else matter? Oil man, oil. Gustav wrecks on US's east course oil resources then the crude won't even stop at $150.
ReplyDeleteBihar situation is a tragedy that is caused by inefficient governments and corrupt poliicians. Disaster management is in disarray. I feel sorry for millions of people displaced, lost and are starving. How can we help things improve?
