Odd News of Crime

I think today will be another odd news of crimes day. And this is about the odd things people choose to steal...

Police in Brechin, Scotland, are looking for thieves who took 14 valuable birds from a collector.
The budgerigars, called common parakeets in the United States, were taken when the house was burglarized on July 3.

Elsewhere, a man stole a skunk and tried to return it:

Authorities arrested two people connected to the theft of a baby skunk from a pet store. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reported that the skunk was stolen Wednesday from Animal Crackers Pet Store. The animal was valued at $400.
Deputies said they arrested 21-year-old man on Thursday when he tried to return the skunk to the store.

And in Germany, these thieves need a big network to sell their loot:

A gang of four looted 4.9 million euros ($6.9 million) worth of potency pills in a burglary at Bayer AG's headquarters, the company said on Monday.
Five weeks after burglars stole two barrels filled with 320,000 of Bayer's Levitra pills, Bayer said it had put up a reward of 20,000 euros for information leading either to the perpetrators being caught or the retrieval of more than half the swag.

To get a grip on the scale of this grand theft, note that it is reported that "The stolen amount is equivalent to about five days of production for the global market.".

And finally, this is not about stealing, though there is a bit of stealing involved in this- but it is more of selling- because the mother went along with it.

A New Zealand Internet auction site said it has pulled two postings by a teenager who sought to sell nude pictures of his mother.
The 18-year-old Auckland student, identified only as Michael, said he put up his first offering on the Trade Me Web site, promising "five naked photos of my mum," after his mother told him to clear out the family garage and sell any unwanted items, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

Then it further reports,

Michael's mother, Jennifer, 44, said she was "pretty annoyed" to find out about her son's first auction.
"He was quite naughty ... I thought 'you cheeky little git,'" she said.
Jennifer said she approved of the second set of pictures...

This is the world we live in.
